What is the book about?

The sequel to the bestselling novel, Vampire Academy, Frostbite brings back the fierce and sassy main character, Rose Hathaway, in a story where her mind and her heart is tested.

When Rose and her mentor/lover go to visit a Guardian who is a huge legend, they are met with death. A royal family has been slain and it seems that the worst has come true, Strigoi were on the prowl with humans by their side.

Trying to forget about the images of blood and death, Rose has to cope with her feelings for Dimitri, a man who is determined to bury the fire between them. When Tasha Ozera, Christian's beautiful, interesting aunt comes to stay with them, Rose feels that competition is on the horizon.

But this isn't a love story. It's a tale about trying to do what's right in order to protect those you love.

What did you enjoy about this book?

Rose is a fierce character but she is truly someone you can relate to on the inside. She's strong and yet there's a side to her that makes you want to connect to her. The action and the romance were also tasteful and though I felt that Rose's growth as a guardian was what the premise of the was, those two elements really pulled me in.

What have you read that is similar to this book?

I must say that Miss Mead's novel is really different from any vampire novel I've ever read. I

What are some of the major themes of this book?

For me, there were two themes. One was, growing up has nothing to do with age, it's all about how you learn from your mistakes. Rose made a lot of mistakes in the story based a lot of her emotions and at some point she realizes that she needed to change...and I won't spoil anything for anyone, so my second theme was, you can't conquer love. Love is unpredictable, you can't run from it. After reading the story, you'll understand what I'm talking about.

Who was your favorite character? What did you appreciate about him/her?

Ah, I can't really seem to pick one favorite character because they're all so lovable. So here's what I'll do, I'll pick one for both sexes.

Favorite Female Character: It would have to be Rose. Rose is sassy, she's fierce, she's strong, and she embodies everything a woman should be. She's funny and all in all, you can't help but love her (and loathe her because she has Dimitri!)

Favorite Male Character: Adrian Ivashkov. Nough said. But seriously, once you meet him you can't get him out of your system. I appreciate his cockiness and his flirtaciousness and he's so sexy and not just in appearance, but the way he acts. Read and find out.

At the end of the book, do you feel hope for the characters?

Do I have hope for the characters?! Of course I do! I mean, especially Rose and Dimitri because....oops I've already said too much. Let's just say that things, though a little rough, start looking up.

What is stronger in the book: plot or character development? Why?

It's kinda 50/50 here. The characters were fleshed out and they took on a life of their own. Even the minor characters and the plot was easy-going and it wasn't too much.

Did you find any flaws in the book?

Nope. That's rare, though. It's just that this book was SO good!

Overall review of the book.

I'm going to give this book a 5/5 because it was really good and the characters were lovable. I couldn't put the book down and if you like a vampire novel with action and romance, then this is the YA novel for you.
